Cheap and they work — But…
I’ve bought 3 of these and purchased the slightly more expensive ones from Blackmagic and the much more expensive ones from Decimator.Issue 1) These only work on the “HDMI A” format as opposed to “HDMI B.” It won’t work if your SDI output device cannot be changed to “HDMI A.” Fortunately, Blackmagic’s devices can all be connected to a computer and adjusted to HDMI A (they default to B). Decimators can also be changed.***If you have trouble getting no signal from the HDMI output port when you know the SDI cable has an SDI signal, this is most likely the issue.***Issue 2) Power Off/Reset – In the event of a power cycle, these boxes NEED to see SDI signals to power ON correctly. In other words, if you turn them on and there is no SDI signal present, you will probably have to power cycle them AGAIN, after applying an SDI signal to them, for them to work. This is problematic if you depend on these boxes to always “work,” such as installing them in a hard-to-reach location and having no easy way to cycle power to them. For example, I have two of these connected to a projector (Converter A to Projector A and Converter B to Projector B). I send one SDI cable to the first, then using the pass-through SDI connector, I daisy-chain the SDI signal to the next converter. Many power outages happen for various reasons, so I often find that when I turn my system on, and output video to my projectors, one or both show “No Input.” Recycling power to these converters (with my SDI input signal turned on) fixes the issue.”You get what you pay for” will always come into play with electronics; while I have run into various issues with these, I’ve figured out workarounds just fine. My advice to you: if you’re working on a shoestring budget, these work just fine, but remember what I’ve said above. If you’re NOT on a shoestring budget then get either the Blackmagic or the Decimators and avoid these issues altogether.

1080p not working with Decklink Duo 2
Can confirm with the other review that I could not get these to work (running two) with my Decklink Duo 2 at 1080p.1080i worked fine.

1080. I used three of these with a blackmagic ATEM mini pro. They worked perfectly and I was able to get audio and video signal to the switcher. Cameras used were C300 mkII and Sony Fs7. They each require a power source so plan for that, but I had no issues while live streaming multiple events over several days. I’m very happy with the purchase and pleased with the quality of the item.

Don’t waste your money
This does not work. I purchased 3 of them to use for the DeckLink Duo from the computer to projector over SDI and none of them work on any of the projectors. I missed the return by 3 days. Waste of money and no support!

Buyer beware
Although properly connected with pre-tested cables, the convert produced no signal output on either the HDMI-OUR or SDI-OUT jacks.The converter comes with what is, at most, very general setup instructions (because it is not that difficult to set up), but no information about the red light (which I assume indicates power) and a flashing green that is never explained.Customer support is an important issue. In this case, the seller required that I contact it for customer support before they would permit a return of the item. This consisted of a series of e-mails from the seller asking for a photograph of the converter connections and several technical questions about the input signal, such as frequency. I could answer most but not all of their technical questions (such as the frequency of the SDI input signal). Then I heard nothing from the seller for two days, after which Amazon Customer Service intervened and authorized the return and refund.Since this product did not work at all, and the seller made it unnecessarily difficult to return this relatively inexpensive item, I cannot give this converter more than the lowest number of stars.
