Description

The AFS2 advanced feedback suppression processor has been completely re-designed to take the foundation of the best selling AFS224 and bring it to the next level. With its powerful DSP module, the AFS2 provides all the processing and control necessary for both installation and live use. Ten and twelve filter feedback elimination processors are the De facto standard, but the AFS2 offers a dedicated feedback suppression processor that offers up to 24 filters per channel with filter Qs up to 1/80 of an octave. The AFS2 now offers the highly-intuitive Wizard function that takes all of the guesswork out of setting up any room. The AFS2 also incorporates a completely re-designed advanced feedback suppression module. Best of all, the AFS2 now provides the user with a full LCD display setup and monitoring.

Part of the Harman group of sound companies, dbx was founded in 1971 by David E. Blackmer with this goal: ‘To get closer to the realism of a live performance’. Now dbx tape noise reduction systems are used in professional recording studios around the world.

Nothing turns audiences away like annoying and potentially painful audio feedback. Fortunately, dbx engineers have revisited their already-stellar Advanced Feedback Suppression algorithm and made it work even better. The all-new AFS2 listens for and anticipates feedback and adjusts frequency output automatically before feedback even has a chance, while never altering your sound.

    Good product
This product probably works really good for someone who knows what they are doing but that is not me. The instructions do not tell you everything you need to know and costumer service is non existent. So you are pretty much on your own.

  2. Kbryant1

    Keeps the howling at bay.
The unit worked well in the environment I install it. It seemed to control feedback fairly well. It does perform in every situation but in this case it mitigated the feedback issues. I will use it again.

    Total Control of feedback
We have guitar group. Xmas 20-25 acoustic guitarists on stage, 7 microphones, 2 FOH, 5 feedback speakers, and an audience of 150 people. The AFS2 coped without a problem. Killed every squeal dead in micro secs. Used ( preset from rehearsal, all rest floating. It was magnificent. Even when enthusiastic guitarists were moving microphones all over the place, holding them (not suposed to) it did the job. The setup by the wizard was unbelievably easy. Best buy we ever made.

  4. Gerald

    It works very well.
This works very well. I am new at running sound and still have a lot to learn. I do sound for several acoustic bands that use microphones to mic their acoustic guitars and other instruments. We have lots of microphones in front of several floor monitors. I use this mostly for onstage monitors. So far I’ve been able to raise sound levels in the monitors louder than needed. It is very easy to use with the wizard. Before I got the AFS2, I would get lots of anxiety on the way to diffrent venues and working with different bands, worrying about a possible feedback nightmare, while setting up in restaurants and bars where customers are hanging out and eating dinner. This unit has eased my worried mind. And because it uses 1/8 octave notches, it cuts less frequencies than a 31 band graphic equalizer and doesn’t seem to effect the sound as much. It was well worth it’s price. My band members rave about our monitor mix, especially after we played a festival or event where someone else is running sound and we have been plagued by feedback. The AFS2 makes me look like a seasoned sound guy, when I’m not! It allows me more time to eq the sound for good tone and volume. I would highly recommend it. I use it with a Behringer Xair 18. Because there are no inserts I run it between the mixer and powered speakers. For it to work right you need a sufficient amount of gain running into it. The unit has gain adjustment that is very helpful in my situation.

    I have no idea
Still haven’t figure it out yet….

  6. Sugarcane

It does what it suppose to do. However, …
It does what it suppose to do. However, you’ll still need to know your environment and need to calibrate your sound device, this thing won’t do the magic trick

  7. Kris

    Five stars
    Amazing

  8. Bars n Guitarz

    Good problem solver for lack-of-soundmanitis
If you run your own sound from stage, this device is the answer to many feedback issues. Well thought out product that has been upgraded from previous edition to have even better functionality. Sound system still sounds fantastic but your results may differ. Currently running behringer air 18 with Shure & Sennheiser mics through E.V. Evolve 50 powered speakers and Shure I.e.m.’s

  9. Mr. Island

    its the one to get
tested other makes and models and all had various issues – this unit just plain works. It’s easy to operate and eliminated our feedback issues and improved the audio quality of our system remarkably.

  10. KS

    Same old problem
Totally changes sound. Does not do a great job with detecting feedback frequencies. Yuk.
