Description

The dbx 560A Compressor/Limiter offers legendary VCA-based compression in the increasingly popular 500 Series format. dbx has a much-heralded history with modular processors dating back to our 900 Series and the 560A continues that tradition. Featuring the same switch-selectable Over Easy and Hard Knee compression curves as our industry-standard dbx 160A rack mount processor, the dbx 560A will be your new workhorse compressor! With extremely wide-ranging threshold, ratio and output controls and true RMS level detection providing the most natural-sounding dynamics processing available, the 560A will provide punch to drums, bass, vocals, almost anything! It’s also versatile enough to go from subtle compression to “brick wall” peak limiting. Choose low ratios and Over Easy compression to expertly smooth out fluctuating vocal and instrumental levels, or use the 560A’s Hard Knee compression and high ratios for bombproof protection against overload distortion in digital recording, P.A. systems and broadcast signals. The 560A’s 19-segment, switchable Input/output LEDs and 12-segment Gain Reduction LEDs provide precise analysis at a glance. And, the dbx 560A’s unique “INFINITY +” inverse-compression mode actually decreases the audio output level below unity gain when the input exceeds threshold, a real lifesaver for correcting overbearing vocal choruses and controlling runaway mix levels. Load up your 500 Series rack with some dbx 560A Compressor/Limiters and go to work!

  1. Audio Mix Pros LLC

Great product! Using it in a professional grade studio!I bought this to use at Audio Mix Pros Recording Studio in Phoenix, AZ. We were not sure if it was even worth buying but decided to give it a try. We couldn’t be happier with this unit. I plan on buying a couple more now that I have had a few months to test this first one out.

  2. Chris O’Neal

I like this a lotI like this a lot! It does exactly what it says it does. This is one of those units that you slap it on, forget that it’s there, and if you remove it from the mix it sounds like something is missing. Make sure your AD converters are good, b/c this thing can really clip an AD if you push it too hard. You really need to make sure your levels are good. It really distorts in my Apogee Rosetta, so I’m either going to upgrade the signal path for the Rosetta or route it through my BLA Sparrow red mkii.

  3. kumu

It has a great sound and I’m super happy I bought this for …This thing is dope! I use it for rap vocals mainly. It has a great sound and I’m super happy I bought this for the price. I normally don’t skimp on studio equipment but i’ve got a damn good pre so I thought maybe this 160 clone would do just fine. I was right. I won’t go into detail about it sounding “warm” as that s*** is subjective. I know that the response is great and if you just spend time tweaking and not over compressing, use the overeasy switch!! …you can get a good sound you will be happy with. Excellent solid product. -k

  4. Daniel Anthony Spillers

If you’re here, BUY IT!Perfectly present and quiet. I’m impressed with how effective DBX products have been in work workflow chain. You need one of these in your life. Loud, present, doesn’t add too much unneeded saturation. I’ve recorded some hit records with this bad boy.

  5. Chris O’Neal

Hard to make it sound bad. I have the 1u rack versionThis thing is a workhorse. Hard to make it sound bad. I have the 1u rack version. I honestly haven’t compared them to each other. I just use this as intended and get a good result almost always. The price really allows you to fill your rack up with outboard compression, which is great if you’re tired of mixing with plugins.

  6. Diego R

Great results for a low costThese pre-amps are really nice, very low noise, don’t add color to the sound in contrast with other pre-amps (which is desirable in certain situations), and the high-detail feature is quite nice!

  7. audioman

A truly high quality compressor for a decent priceLack of any audible distortion. Not flexible enough for “squashing” things, but great for stuff like vocals, anything that doesn’t have lots of transients, or for very gentle processing of a mix.

  8. Phusion974

Great compressor!Really happy with the 560a, I have it linked to an Avedis MD7 preamp and run the pre along side this compressor to track bass. It’s very transparent and does its job very well. For the price, it’s a no brainier.

  9. Aimee Copeland

    A must-have for any studio.Great sounding 500 series preamp.

  10. Giuseppe Scarpato

Great Compressor, classic sound in 500 series versionGreat Compressor, classic sound in 500 series version, sounds good as the original rack versionEasy to use and mount in API Lunch Box
