Set your source volume at a position between 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock, and leave it at this setting. Always use the AVA1210 volume control as a master main volume control. It has better electronics, higher signal to noise ratio and is more linear than any source unit volume control available. If engine noise is audible, check the ground connection on all units and in the audio system.
Features
- Volume control with up to 8 volts RMS of output
- Seven band equalizer with 18 dB boost/Cut

It works 🙂
Never thought I would be using a Boss car equalizer to preamp my 3000$ Marantz home theatre. But it has given me the freedom of simplicity as I didn’t want to have multiple equalizers. Befor getting this I was splitting rca multiple times so thank you boss for having the proper solution. And yes my amplifier has hdmi I just don’t like how the amp is constantly jumping settings cause of all the different output formats hdmi has.

Good quality for what it costs.
It does what it should, but not in the same way as many of the more expensive equalizer I’ve owned have. Instead of being able to adjust all seven bands on all your speakers this one splits so there are 3 frequencies that adjust rear speakers and the 4 left adjust the front speakers. Not terrible or anything but as far as the reasoning why this would be done I dont see. Most cars these days have identical speakers from the factory in both the front and back so dividing up the frequencies makes little sense as even when aftermarket speakers that replace them would also be likely identical. It only would be an advantage if your rear speakers were larger and capable of more low end than the front set. I dislike the pots and prefere sliders for adjusting an eq but those are harder to find these days. Good value for the price so far at least. The knobs are not really all aligned and some stick out more than others. Bugs me a little bit as it is a sign of cheap labor but I’ll have to wait and see how long it will stay working right, works well uh

Great for fine tuning music clarity
I mean ya it has a volume knob try to leave that one alone the only flaw I have and I’m a freak about the subs being clear loud and deep. But you have to make sure the music can also be just as loud as that bass and still have a very clean signal to jack up when adding multiple amps.

It works well!
I need 4 of these at least to control my Array of 6 amps,, with power distrubited to about 36 different speakers/subs/tweeter… So i’ve been trying out brands, to test the quality/options/differences.. yaddayadda.. i ordered 6 of these from different makers…the price ranges from (Boss cheapest) 50$ to a (Clairon ) 150$ (other brands Audiopipe/Planet audio/soundstream/power acoustic) For 50$ I should have gotten 3 of these, i am very impressed with the quality for price… Try one of these before you spend 3x the money

Boss AVA-1210 7-Band Equalizer
Boss AVA-1210 (7-Band Equalizer)Excellent Product, I can appreciate the price to quality ratio of this product. It was my first Boss brand purchase. It’s been around a month now and I am pleased with the function and sound quality in comparison to my stereo system without this equalizer. Sub outputs sound to be at a lower volume than the the front and rear outputs. All in all, great product.

Put it in a faraday cage…or the recycle bin.
This unit lacks rf sheilding (metal) on the top part of the case. Place a cell phone near pretty much any power wire for an amp and you will hear “GSM Buzz”. Place a phone near this and you’ll hear “GSM ROAR”. By roar, I mean it could blow your speakers if the volume and gain were up on all devices. This preamp will turn GSM, CDMA, and Bluetooth frequencies right into analog (something to do with a rectifier something or other) and pass it down the line. A bluetooth adapter that I had plugged into a Pioneer deck with no issues screamed into this. The Pioneer deck was clearly compensating for something that the BOSS unit wasn’t designed to filter out. There was also a static white noise present at high frequencies. All of these conditions were found with a heavy gauge ground and power supply that was common for both amps and the BOSS preamp. Still looking for the right combination of RF chokes, cable shielding, cable grounding, and possibly a steel sheet metal RF shield for the housing. As far as the actual sound that is intended to pass through the preamp/equalizer, it sounds pretty good. With gain low on the amps (1000w and 400w) and the BOSS preamp, I noticed no clipping or distortion of any kind up to a painful volume on run of the mill Sony Xplod speakers. It’s also nice to be able to turn one of a number of knobs to adjust sound between hip-hop and metal instead of flipping through a menu on a deck while driving.
