Overview

“Hum” in an audio system is often caused by loop effects which act like antennas. These loops can easily pick up a 60 Hz (or higher harmonics) hum transmitted by electrical wiring. Typically, these loops are connected via grounds, more commonly called “ground loops”. The safest way to eliminate unwanted noise is with the CleanBOX II. Some examples of Ground Loops:

CleanBOX II Applications:

  • The power ground of a synthesizer, connected to the signal ground of the synth, into a mixer’s ground, then into a mixer’s power ground
  • The signal ground of a send effect (reverb, delay) into a mixer, and the connecting power grounds of the mixer and the unit.
  • The power ground of a guitar amplifier, connected to a signal processor which has a second guitar amplifier on the other channel, and then the second guitar amp’s power ground.
  • The CleanBOX II easily removes ground loops without any signal degradation.

Reduced, but did not eliminate hum
Does not require a power source!Easy to set up and use!Reduced but did not eliminate the buzzing in my studio monitors which seems related to power fluctuations in my gpu.

    Phenomenal. Headache Solved!!!
I bought this because my studio montiors and my Scarlett 2i2 were buzzing when I plugged into a different outlet. After a solid 2 weeks of frustrated, mood altering testing… I went with this as a last purchase, given I didn’t want the extra cordage an a big box. Well, it WORKS!HumX didn’t work. Updating drivers didn’t work. Different outlets didn’t work. It wasn’t a coil whine either. It was clear to me it was a ground loop when I unplugged my laptop from power and everything worked great. Now with my PC, everything sounds perfect!

    Removes hum between devices
Worked great to remove ground noise in my setup using a Mac Mini to record two channels of audio off my sound board at church. Ignore the reviews of people using it for their guitars, that is not the main purpose of this device. If you have a guitar and ground issues connecting to a sound system, use a direct box and minimize the length of unbalanced TS 1/4″ cables. The intent of this device is to be used with balanced cables on both sides. When used for those situations it is perfect for the job and the lowest price tool for the job!

    Great Item!
After researching other products, I purchased this item and was very pleased with what it could do to reduce or completly remove the “HUM” I was getting from my equipment. Prior to using it I had thought that the problem was with the cords I was using. Not so…Great product for the price. Well worth the purchase.

Product & Picture Aren’t The Same
The product pictured and the product received are completely different models of CleanBox. I needed a multi in/out box and that is what was pictured. But I received just the hum reducer, not the full box that was pictured.

  8. Mauricio

i do not know what is this for?
suppostly to eliminate humming or buzzing, does nothing in my guitar pedal board, do not fool people with this crap.

    Not for guitars
I read a few reviews of this hum elminator which were generally positive so I took the plunge and bought one. I have a few hum issues with my guitar rig, pedal board, etc. The unit reduces the volume of the guitar signal by at least a half, if not more, killing tone and making is almost unable to drive a valve amp. I then tried it after the pedal board, turing the output volume of the pedals up to try and boost the signal enough to try and get a reasonable signal going into the amp. Whilst that did help a bit, the tone is still all but destroyed. I can see this unit would be very useful for some applicaitons and some audio equipment so I’m going to keep it. The one thing it is not good for is a guitar rig.
