Decent antenna, a step up from flat antennasI’ve been frustrated by digital TV. The current standard (ATSC 1.x) makes over the air reception dodgy. Add the lack of regulation of advertisers to say whatever they want about reception range, openly lying about how powerful their useless antenna is, and you have one unhappy consumer. That’s me.I live in a big city, whippity do, but in an old brick apartment building and on the ground floor, so I’ve had lousy luck with TV antennas and I can’t install an external antenna on the roof: not my building, not my purview. In any case, the Antan antenna works well. It’s not perfect and won’t perform any miracles. However, it does receive that one VHF channel in the area that other antennas have failed to get, so I’m very happy about that. [To get that, I put the aerials at 45 degrees and it worked better when they weren’t extended at all. (The antenna also worked best slightly below window level, oddly enough, rather than in the window or up high.)] In addition, it got over 70 stations after several channel scans and different antenna placements, versus 45-65 stations that I’ve been able to get with other cheap antennas. The Antan doesn’t solve everything and the usual digital frustrations still apply, where passing trucks and overhead jets can and will disrupt the signal. Time of day randomly affects reception as well. To solve that, you do the hinky-dinky-do dance and hope for the best: in other words, there is no solution and you’re at the indifferent whims of physics and poor standards until ATSC 3.0 takes effect. It’s a good antenna in the city. The 8-10 foot attached cable is just long enough to mess around with to try to hope for the best signal. The cable or cord is light gauge, but a little better than others that I’ve seen, but it’s nowhere near RG6 or even RG59 coaxial quality. It’s permanently attached to the antenna as well.As others have mentioned, the base of the antenna is too light to stand on its own. You’ll need to prop it up or lean it against something if you’re not hanging it up.I give it 4+ stars and would recommend that you give it a try if you’re within 20 miles of broadcast antennas and are looking for something that will get both VHF and UHF stations. I wish you the best of luck!

These Rabbit Ears Did Not Improve the Channels My TV Captured in Comparison to Other AntennasI am located in New York City, so the tv stations and their antennas are very close to my home, only a couple miles to a few miles away. I can see the Empire State building from my neighborhood. Therefore, a decent antenna for my tv should be able to easily pick up many channels if it was a good one. My parents have an antenna with rabbit ears that extend three feet with two knobs for adjustments, and they get really great reception (5 stars). My tv’s were using the square panel type antennas, and they work pretty well as long as you move them to the right spot (4 stars). These rabbit ear antennas are only a little over a foot long with a base that is too thin to be steady when placed on a surface, so it has to lean against a wall/window, yet the channels it captures sometimes come through and sometimes do not, even when the antenna was not moved (3 stars). All these antennas I mentioned are all placed near windows, so the comparisons are consistent. This antenna is definitely not very long distance, but the channels it captures when they come through are definitely in quality HD. The cable that you attach to the tv is reasonably long at 10 feet, but if your tv is far away from a window, I recommend you get something with even longer cable. Get this antenna only if you don’t want to spend a lot of money, you are located in a city, your tv is near a window, and you just want an antenna for casual use (meaning you don’t mind if you sometimes see your channel and sometimes you don’t).

It really makes a difference where it’s positionedOur daughter surprised us with 45” smart Tv. Our Antananarivo works perfect. Very simple to install and only took minutes to install. I wished we had settled on this game changer instead of cable. We have 4TV’s and we’ll have to get one more arena. I am sooooo happy with it I could do cartwheels!!

Great value for image qualityPlanning to cut sattellite cord. I ordered this antenna for a smart tv in order to get local broadcast affiliates without having to pay for streaming. Works great when antenna is raised higher than television.

Don’t debate!I’ve tried multiple, and they never worked. This one was easy to set up and I got 47 channels!
