Quality it seems so far for 4K 8 megapixel
I purchased this adding to my existing system. I had a eight camera system now I have upgraded to 16 camera system and added one camera so far. I want to say I paid about $800 or $900 for the old system with eight cameras which were rated about 3 or 4 megapixel I thought about 6 or 7 years ago. The new camera I added which is this listing is supposed to be 8 megapixel. I don’t see how the bottom picture is the new camera the top picture is the old camera. Even when you look at the lines of resolution on the camera it’s much or less than the other ones. It’s my worst quality camera by far. I’m not sure of others are having the same issue. Shipping was great and quality looks good I guess I’ll keep it because it was only $60. I just kind of let down by the quality of the picture.

Better than others
So i have 16 armcrest cameras all 4k mixed between these dome ones and bullet ones. I see no actual quality or anything different between the two. I will say that installing these ones are way better than the bullet ones. This one has a a mounting bracket that goes up first so there is no weird angle screwing in screws. Good quality pictures with some good options. My only complaint is that with the bullets you get the QR code to scan making it easier to setup and connect to your system. These ones do not have to QR code so you have to search for it on your network to add. If you have the armcrest NVR it is easy since it will find it and give you the i.p. I will be buying more as my older qsee cameras go out. I just hope since these are also China cameras/ company now that they work long enough. I had an old swann ayatem that is still running after 15 yrs.

Power Supply problems.
Bought this camera as an addon for my Amcrest system this will be Camera # 12. I installed it at an approximate distance of 40′ away from the the DVR using a 100′ cable, the camera will power up but the picture quality dropped. Finally figured out the Camera needs a power source very much closer to the camera position, this would mean installing a power source for this camera alone, an expensive proposition. Not undertaken.

Works overall. Poor picture quality.
This was my first time purchasing this brand camera. Purchased it because the other brand was unavailable. Just got around to installing it and had to replace it immediately. The picture quality was very poor. It may be my DVR but as soon as I replaced the camera with an HDview brand camera the picture cleared up. Sadly it’s past it’s return window otherwise I’d be returning it. Would not recommend.

Ideal for external home security
On the whole the Amcrest unit is well designed and incredibly simple to install. Only downside is due to compression doesn’t have as much detail as other brands a simple firmware update could be written to address this. Otherwise I have found these units to be great overall.

Unit gets hot and has less than expected image quality
This camera is good, but not great. It gets very hot and the image begins to blur. The controls for image type is good, but not great. The mic I am not sure if it ever worked. The camera is in shade but the heat from the environment makes this camera better suited outside of a desert climate.
