    Great Camera…but Beware (updated rating)
Overall good video, but beware of loss of video or cycling caused by a voltage drop when it goes into IR night mode. If the camera is a good distance from the DVR/server, and/or if you are using “cheap” (small gauge) camera wiring to the DVR/server, the camera may display this problem. I had two that were “bad” for this reason. Because this camera needs 12 volts to operate properly, not much less, you must calculate the voltage drop over the wire and then put whatever voltage is needed at the input to compensate for the drop. There are wire loss calculators on the internet. In my case I needed a 14v input to compensate for the wire loss. The problem/risk is that the camera draws much more current in the night mode than in the day mode, thus applying a higher voltage to achieve 12 volts at the camera at night will actually provide a higher voltage during the day when the IR LEDS are not on. This provides a camera burn out risk. Another option is to remove the two torx screws holding the camera halfs together and disable the IR LEDs while leaving the photocell enabled. Have to cut two circuit board traces. This allows the camera to change to night (B/W) mode when it is dark (camera sensitivity better) but without the LEDs (thus no extra current) and then switch back to color mode during the day. Obviously, this voids the warranty, but you will have a workable camera.

    Decent camera for the money…
These are pretty good cameras that work well with our existing analog based Amcrest DVR we haveat our Church. The night vision is not great but better than other economy level cameras that we’ve usedin the past. mardyn

    IR adjustment
The image is very clear but it doesn’t look like I can adjust when the camera in in B&W or color. Since the lighting is low in it’s current location, it’s stuck in B&W mode. I would rather have it in color and adjust the brightness, hue, saturation and sharpness until it looked good in color.

    Good camera
I’ve bought some of the Zosi cams x2 and sent them back. I thought I’d try this one out and it’s much better and night vision works good. The Zosi cams flicker on/off with night vision whereas this one does not. IR is on at night and off during the day. Good camera.

    Awesome Cameras
Amcrest 1080p HDCVI Standalone Dome Camera (White) (DVR Not Included)

I ordered 4 of these cameras to upgrade my 600TVL cameras. All four cameras arrived on time and undamaged. The camera casings are very durable and made of excellent quality. Installation was very easy. I just disconnected my old cameras and connected the new ones to the existing video cables and electrical cords (plug and play). Once I powered up the cameras, all of them worked perfectly. I am thoroughly impressed with the day and at night (night vision) clarity.

Easy to install and good quality fir the price
Cameras were easy to install. Image Wyality is good. Easy to adjust camera to where you want to view. For the price these can’t be beat.

Seamless addition to 8-channel DVR system
This became the 8th camera in our 8-channel DVR system, purchased separately from Amcrest. It’s just as clear as the 1080p bullet cameras and has essentially the same functionality but with a different look and footprint. The main difference is that the dome camera allows you to adjust the view by rotating the lens housing. With a bullet camera, you loosen a screw, adjust the camera, and then tighten the screw to maintain the view.

  8. Lee’s

After a few years night vision becomes problematic
It’s great when they work. However after few years the I noticed the IR started to not work. I start to loose feeds from some cameras at night, as if the cameras don’t have enough power. However during the day time they all work fine.

Great Camera to use since the 720P ones are no longer available
Was looking to add some more cameras to my Amcrest ProHD 720P 16CH Video Security DVR, the Amcrest dome 720P cameras are no longer available on amazon or directly from Amcrest. Purchased this camera and it worked fine with my existing DVR.

It may very well be a good camera but I’m totally frustrated with anything with Amcrest …
I own an Amcrest DVR so I ordered their camera but I could not get the camera to provide an image. I sent the camera back and ordered one from Anran and it was plug and play. If you think I might have had a defective camera, think again. I ordered several Amcrest cameras and none worked with their own system even with tech support. It may very well be a good camera but I’m totally frustrated with anything with Amcrest on it. Nothing should be as difficult as this camera to get to work. The competitors cameras just plugged it and played perfectly.
