Experience of Work initiative targets 1,500 UK event roles
The Power of Events has unveiled its new Experience of Work Programme at the Business Design Centre, setting an initial target of creating around 1,500 first-hand opportunities for young people to engage with the UK events sector in its first year.
The initiative has launched with backing from organisations across the events ecosystem, underscoring a collective industry commitment to supporting early career pathways and raising awareness of event-related roles.
Experience of Work programme launch
The formal launch at the Business Design Centre marked the public debut of the Experience of Work Programme, a structured effort to give young people direct exposure to working environments in the UK events industry.
By defining a year-one ambition of approximately 1,500 opportunities, the programme sets a clear numerical benchmark for engagement and participation across its initial phase.
Focus on young people and first-hand exposure
The programme is designed around practical, real-world experience for young people interested in events, spanning business events, conferences, exhibitions and related formats.
Its central objective is to enable participants to encounter the day-to-day realities of event work, rather than only hearing about roles in theory, by providing structured opportunities within live industry settings.
Industry organisations providing early support
Organisations from different segments of the events industry have already aligned behind the Experience of Work initiative, supporting the year-one target at launch.
The Business Design Centre served as host venue for the announcement and is among the stakeholders demonstrating early engagement with the programme’s aims.
Ambition for 1,500 opportunities in year one
The headline goal for the programme’s first 12 months is to coordinate around 1,500 distinct opportunities for young people to experience the events sector first-hand.
This target positions the Experience of Work initiative as a sizeable, structured entry point into the UK events industry for emerging talent, with scale built in from the outset.
Role of The Power of Events
The Power of Events is driving the Experience of Work Programme, using its platform to convene support from venues, organisers, suppliers and other event-related businesses.
By connecting young participants with organisations prepared to offer experience-based opportunities, it aims to act as a bridge between the next generation of talent and the operational side of the UK events landscape.
