Bruno Mars’ The Romantic Tour is serving as an early large-scale test bed for L-Acoustics’ new L1 and CS1 systems in the Americas. The stadium tour, which began in April in Las Vegas, has expanded from an initial 39 shows to around 90 dates across North America, Europe, and Japan, running through January 2027.
With nightly audiences in the tens of thousands and a record-setting first day of ticket sales for Live Nation in North America, the tour presents demanding conditions for sound reinforcement. Audio provider Clair Global is using the run to pilot L-Acoustics’ L Series, including L1, L1D and CS1, before the system’s full commercial rollout.

The Romantic Tour marks the first stadium-scale deployment of the L-Acoustics L1 system in the Americas. L1 is the flagship enclosure in the company’s L Series and is based on its Progressive Ultra-Dense Line Source (PULS) approach, designed to offer high output and controlled coverage in large venues.
The system was quietly on the road with Bruno Mars starting in April, ahead of its official public reveal in May at L-Acoustics’ Keynote 2026 event in Los Angeles. Clair Global is one of a limited number of partners given access to the system prior to launch.
The touring rig combines L1 and the downfill-optimised L1D with the CS1 subwoofer, all using a native cardioid design intended to keep low-frequency energy directed at the audience rather than the stage. Systems engineer Wayne Hall notes that this approach has helped reduce onstage spill and bring a more “small-venue” feel to stadium environments.
Front of house engineer Sean “Sully” Sullivan reports that the cardioid behaviour of the main system and subs has made low-frequency management in large outdoor spaces more predictable, particularly in the upper tiers of stadium seating where low end often falls off.
Industry impact
Beyond the hardware, the tour is also an early real-world application of L-Acoustics’ updated software tools and processing. The L1 arrays are designed to work closely with the latest iteration of the company’s Autofilter algorithm within the Soundvision design platform. Autofilter shapes low-frequency coverage across each array to maintain tonal consistency from front-of-stage to the back of the bowl.
Hall describes the result as a more uniform listening experience, with the system behaving as a single source and fewer noticeable tonal changes when walking the venue. The configuration for The Romantic Tour includes main and side arrays of L1/L1D with CS1 flown subs, supported by K2 delay hangs, KS28 ground sub arrays, and A Series loudspeakers for front-fill and near out-fill coverage. LA7.16 amplified controllers power the L1, L1D, CS1 and K2 arrays, while LA12X units drive the ground-based elements.
Engineers joining mid-tour have reportedly been able to adapt quickly, aided by workflow similarities to earlier L-Acoustics systems such as K1 and K2. This may ease training and transition for rental houses considering adoption of the new platform.
The production is also using Source Intelligence, a machine-learning-based vocal enhancement tool running on the L-ISA Processor II. It separates the lead vocal from ambient noise and bleed, allowing more aggressive dynamics processing without bringing up unwanted stage sound. Sullivan cites this as particularly useful given Bruno Mars’ variable mic distance and the presence of loud side-fills and a full band.
