L-Acoustics system underpins dual-purpose dining and show venue in Phuket

Background and context

CLC Phuket, located in the Bang Tao area of Thailand’s largest resort island, has been designed as a hybrid between a restaurant and an entertainment venue. The main space seats around 250 guests and shifts over the course of the evening from quiet dining to full-scale live performances and a dance floor atmosphere.

A second, smaller karaoke room accommodates about 50 people for more intimate events. Both areas host a mix of background music, live musicians, tribute shows and DJ sets, creating a demanding brief for the venue’s audio system.

The owners, who had previously experienced an installation by Bangkok-based integrator Vision One at Café del Mar Phuket, requested a similar standard of sound for their new project. Vision One, a certified partner of L-Acoustics, was brought in to specify and design the system.

Key announcement

Vision One has completed the design and installation of an L-Acoustics A Series sound system across both rooms at CLC Phuket. The goal was to deliver consistent audio quality from low-level dinner service through to high-SPL club-style programming in a space where interior design constraints dictated loudspeaker positions.

The main room is built around two flown arrays, each comprising one A15 Focus and one A15 Wide loudspeaker mounted on an A15 BUMP rigging frame. Low frequencies are provided by four KS21 subwoofers. Two X8i loudspeakers, supported by an additional pair of KS21 subs, act as delay and fill to maintain even sound pressure levels throughout the space.

The karaoke room mirrors the main-room approach on a smaller scale, with two hangs of one A15 Focus and one A15 Wide per side, plus two KS21 subwoofers for bass reinforcement.

System processing and amplification for both spaces is managed by four LA4X amplified controllers and one LA2Xi unit. Vision One used L-Acoustics’ Soundvision software to model coverage and SPL, working within fixed loudspeaker points determined by the venue’s 1920s–1930s-inspired interior design.

Industry impact

The installation at CLC Phuket highlights how hospitality venues in resort destinations are investing in systems that support multi-format programming in a single night. Rather than separating dining and performance spaces, operators are increasingly looking to convert one room through several distinct phases.

For integrators and rental companies, this type of project illustrates the demand for loudspeaker solutions that can deliver both even coverage at low level and sufficient headroom for live shows and DJ sets, while remaining visually unobtrusive. It also underscores the role of predictive design tools in projects where aesthetic considerations limit loudspeaker placement.

Remote access to the system, implemented by Vision One due to the distance between Phuket and its Bangkok base, reflects a broader trend towards off-site monitoring and support for installed sound systems in hospitality and entertainment environments.

Why this matters

For event planners, technical directors and venue operators, CLC Phuket’s implementation demonstrates how a single sound system can be configured to serve both dining and high-energy entertainment without swapping equipment or compromising intelligibility.

The project shows practical use cases for L-Acoustics’ A Series in medium-sized hospitality venues, where flexibility, controlled coverage and compact footprint are important. The combination of A15 Focus, A15 Wide and KS21 subwoofers provides a template that other dual-purpose sites can adapt, particularly those working within strict architectural or interior design guidelines.

More information on the L-Acoustics A Series and related components used in this project is available via the manufacturer’s official website at https://www.l-acoustics.com.

  • Main room: A15 Focus and A15 Wide arrays, KS21 subwoofers, X8i delays
  • Karaoke room: A15 Focus and A15 Wide arrays, KS21 subwoofers
  • Amplification and control: LA4X and LA2Xi amplified controllers
  • Design tools: Soundvision for coverage and SPL simulation

As more dining-led venues incorporate full-scale performance elements into their nightly programming, this type of installation is likely to become a reference point for similar projects in the region and beyond.
