Has everything I was looking for in a speaker box!
This speaker box has a lot of features that are up-to-date options that many others do not. In fact, I could not find any other speaker box that does everything this one does. Specifically-1) Sound quality- rich and full with plenty of high end, and certainly plenty of low end (more than some people are looking for), with mid-range perhaps a bit understated. Unless you are entertaining a big party outdoors or using for some other big event, you’ll have more than you need sound-wise. Also, the unit has an equalizer which can be set to several generic settings, such as flat, rock, vocal, salsa, reggae, & hip-hop. up and down tuner presets, X-bass (which is overkill really)2) Weight and size- it’s big and heavy, especially loaded with 10 (yes, TEN) D-cell batteries. So you won’t be carrying this around much, although it does have sturdy handles on both ends. Most people will plant this somewhere in the house, or maybe on the deck sometimes, and plug in the AC for regular use.3) Inputs- This is where it gets interesting. You have good Bluetooth connectivity, and you can easily pair it with your phone or an MP3 player (that has bluetooth capabilities). It has an “audio in” port, which you can use to connect any player that does not have bluetooth capabilities. Most importantly for me, it also has a USB port, which is invaluable. The port can be used to play from a flash drive directly, with both repeat and random options available, and can access a drive with over 65,000 song on it. I have a 125 gb drive I plug in, and that’s most of my music catalog. It displays what is being played against a blue background. The unit also comes with a tuner, which you can program how you like. Personally I like to play Pandora from my phone. Also has microphone and guitar inputs on the back.4) Power supply- AC cord provided of course, but the USB port can also be used to charge your phone or your MP3 player, even when you’re using D-cell batteries! The batteries last a long time, many hours of constant use, with some variance depending on battery quality, volume, use of blue flashing woofer strobes (turn ’em off), and whatever else you may have plugged in to charge up. I’m going to be on an island for a week, and I plan to have music all the time, either with the box, which also has a headphone jack, or with my charged up MP3 player, or my phone, in any combination that suits my surroundings. I’ll never have to look for an AC socket! For charging other gadgets using battery power, be aware of any power saving mode that may be on. Unplug AC when using batteries. Unit has no rechargeable battery, and you cannot use rechargeable batteries.5) Remote control- Comes with a very well designed, easy to use remote, which allows you to control play/pause/stop for both Bluetooth and USB, audio input, pairing button, display options, USB folder options, program memory, navigation circle, dimmer for lighting, Audio settings, Echo effect, volume and mute buttons. There is no CD or tape player included in this unit (so what?).I hope this is helpful for people who are looking for specific features.

    Loud and Proud
Sounds great, works great after 4 years of lugging it all over the place. Bluetooth occasionally (approximately once a week) has to be fiddled with but I’ll still give it 4 stars for it’s excellence in other areas.

Fantastic sound!Easy paring.Always ready to accept phone’s Bluetooth.

    You won’t be disappointed!
I use this in the garage with my iPhone’s Pandora via Bluetooth and let me tell you, this thing jams! You can choose to select the “loudness-bass” button for those tracks that absolutely need it, but without it it sounds fantastic as well. It may require a tad more volume without, but depending on the track, the sound is full and true! Although it’s a coaxial speaker on each side up front, it sounds smooth like a silk tweeter would, as compared to metal alternatives that I have determined are not for me and the music I tend to listen to! (i.e.- Allman Bros, Stones, Radiators, GD, DM, you get the idea!) It has the 4+ inch bass speakers on each side behind the handles and they light up with a blue light shimmering to the beat. I didn’t think I’d like that option at first, but it’s grown on me! It will also store up to 40 (?) FM Only Radio Stations and you can choose for it to do so automatically or manually. Each station I identified in the LCD and the remote has buttons to scroll up or down on the preset stations. I haven’t hooked it up yet, but it even has both a 3.5m stereo mini plug for portable music players as well as a Banana Plug-in for guitar! I consider myself a mid range audiophile as I outfit my cars with speakers that cost many times more than the cost of this device and all I can say with a smile on my face “this Box delivers!”

We’ve been searching for something as good as our JVC Kaboom box.
We used to take our JVC Kaboom box everywhere, in the boats, in the motorhome, to the dock and up and down stairs. Trying to find another one wasn’t a good option since they don’t make them anymore. The only one we could find was $864. I was tempted, but…no. These come VERY close. Yes, these…after we received the first one we bought another immediately. Sound is excellent. Bluetooth is great (Kaboom doesn’t have that). We are audiophiles and use our iPods exclusively. So easy to use the remote control or iPod to access everything we need to on these speakers (Boomer and B.B.). B.B. lives upstairs, Boomer is in the motorhome and Kaboom on the bar. We now need to order another 256GB iPod. That will make our sixth iPod. They all still work, even our 120GB we bought in 2009 still works. We’re so used to carrying the Kaboom box every place we go that carting these boomboxes around is no biggie, pun intended. At least now we don’t have to move any of them as often. We are thrilled with these and are thinking of buying another one to keep on our Century boat.

Very pleased, but have some design recommendations for Sharp
I bought this because I am so underwhelmed by portable bluetooth audio players. Their bass range is so tiny. And they are so overpriced. I feel like we are all being dooped. So, I thought to myself why not a plug in boom box like the old days? Just throw some D batteries in it if you need to take it somewhere with no power. Anyway, back to the review . . . The bass is EXCELLENT. very deep and very loud. But . . . it rattles the box.. kind of annoying (and why this is only getting 4/5 stars). Plus at very loud levels you cannot have the extra bass on bcus I fear the speakers would blow (again, poor design). But . . . even with the extra bass off, it thumps like a beast. Only other gripe (since I’m a bit of a audiophile) is that they really should have put in a couple of tweeters at the upper outside corners. It could use a bit more fidelity in the highs. But it’s ok… for $170. All around very satisfied. Bluetooth works wonderfully, as does the line-in. Haven’t tried the guitar or karaoke yet. Great product!

    Happy with this Bluetooth unit
First let me state I have no other Bluetooth speakers to compare that to. With that said, I have owned different JVC Kaboom boxes. The Bluetooth and nfc functions flawlessly, the radio tuner works well, and the remote is not bad for a portable unit.I bought this because I wanted Bluetooth and imagined it is the same as the gx-m10, which has excellent reviews. It has Xtra bass, which makes a huge difference when in and the speakers play quite clear at higher volume. I wish there was a full eq instead of just presets and I’m underwhelmed by its max volume. It can get decently loud but not at all what I expected based on the m10 reviews.Overall I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend it to someone looking for a Bluetooth radio. I cannot comment on how well it’s built, I did not tear it apart, and only own it for a short time; however, it appears to be well constructed.

    Clean sounding Boom Box.
This is a clear and clean sounding boom box. What I didn’t like about the boom box is that the X Bass doesn’t blend with the EQ (Flat, Reggae, Rock, etc). It’s either, or. Comparing this Boom box to my JVC RV-NB1, the NB-1 is more dynamic. The EQ and Subwoofer controls blend well in order to receive the best sound quality. The bass is deeper and it’s a true vintage boom box. The Sharp does sound a little bit more clear with the volume cranked up and I like that it has a bluetooth connection. Overall, the Sharp is an awesome modern day boom box.

  10. Booman

The Deep bass is excellent. The boombox its self is huge
I did a lot of research on YouTube with comparison to other boomboxs. In one comparison this boombox out preformed (Bose speekers). The Deep bass is excellent. The boombox its self is huge. The music sounds excellent in my home. I’m also using it as a sound bar for my T.V. running a red and white audio jack straight from the Direct t.v Box, with a 3.5 mm tipRunning into the auxiliary hole in the back of the boombox. Turning the t.v all the way down and just using the boombox. Im going to have to get a usb to usb cord. To run the sound through my xbox which I have not done yet. I had the JVC kaboom, this box is better. The price is good as it gets for this thumpn bass sound. You won’t get those really high tweeters, but the mid range is very good.Th e Bluetooth work great while listening to Pandora. UPDATED.I’VE hooked up my xbox to the auxiliary, best sound bar you could buy. Playing movies sounds like you’re in the theatre. My money well spent.
