J’avais besoin d’un outil qui n’existait pas: un flash qui puisse me permettre de flasher très rapidement, en intérieur, d’une puissance moyenne (pour des soirées), et très facile à configurer (contrairement à la plupart des flash cobra, souvent trop puissants, qui ont des temps de rechargement parfois long en fin de batterie ou en mitraillant)… bref, l’outil parfait pour ne rater aucun cliché en soirée Gala, où l’on enchaine les portraits mais souvent avec des VIP qui sont blasés des photographes, et qu’on ne peut pas faire poser trop longtemps sans les déranger dans leurs discussions. Eh bien, cet outil existe, c’est le NEO II.Et en plus, il va me permettre d’éclairer une scène pour capturer des moments vidéo, ou des mini interviews. Que demander de plus? De plus, avec des piles rechargeables de forte puissance, il tient facilement avec ses 6 piles toute une grosse soirée.Evidemment, il a ses défauts : il est moins puissant qu’un flash cobra classique, il a un encombrement supérieur à ce genre de flash, et il a un menu un peu basique le rendant pas toujours pratique à naviguer. Mais à côté, il envoie (et il en jette, bien souvent, ça impressionne les personnes en face, avec ses faux airs de flash au sodium de la presse criminelle des années folles).Pour le moment donc, j’apprécie!J’ai apprécié également recevoir les deux jeux de filtres, ainsi qu’une poignée en mousse en bonus!A voir sur le long terme donc.Ps: attention, si vous voulez l’utiliser directement sur votre boitier, ne pas oublier de prendre le cable synchro, vendu séparément (et où nulle part on vous le recommande, et très difficile à dénicher en boutiques physiques). Et savoir que mon cable Rotolight a rendu l’âme au bout de sa première utilisation! Donc, méfiance. Sinon, il a un émetteur Skyport Elinchrome intégré, pour piloter vos autres flash, ou être piloté!).Attention aussi: on parle bien du Neo II et pas de sa première version, qui lui ressemble comme deux gouttes d’eau, mais lui bien moins puissant, sans controleur intégré.

Very expensive for what it is, a bunch of LED’s sold at a crazy high price. Rotolight must be nuts to think the ordinary joe soap can then go onto purchase a trigger for another 300 quid then bard doors just to be able to mount the softbox all sold at crazy prices. With that said from reviews its light that it produces has a better reputation for more accurate colour temperature than any of the cheaper products such as the Godox LED panels etc. Build quality is OK but the plastic feels like it will crack if it gets a bang or is dropped, would feel better if it was made from more of an impact resisted material (maybe it is made form this stuff but it feels more brittle) The size is lovely, operation is flawless. It says it on the manual and plenty of review sites that this light is NOT suitable for alkaline AA batteries it needs high performance Nimh cells. This is not an exaggeration sticking some shop bought alkalines into it, it lasts about 10mins max and complains of low battery if you ramp up power to past 50% after a minute or two, this is due to Alkaines not suited for high draw where their capacity quickly diminishes, Nimh cells though are better suited to be able to supply enough umph to keep this light working better. I was initially unimpressed with the output of the light when looking at it with the naked eye, but it appears to be enough to use for head/shoulders shots if you ramp up the ISO on your camera when shooting stills.The good: Lovely light, Lovely size, very versatile. Flash mode with PC sync and HSS flash mode with the crazy priced dedicated trigger.The bad: The high price

Das Foto und Film-Licht
Wer es nicht kennt, sollte sich mal die entsprechenden Videos auf Youtube ansehen, um zu verstehen, was man damit machen kann.Ich benutze es als Licht und HSS-Blitz für die Fotografie. Es ist eine neue Art, mit der Beleuchtung umzugehen.Hervorragend ist die Einstellung der Helligkeit und der Farbtemperatur, gerade wenn man das mit vorhandenem Licht ‘mischen’ muss.Und als HSS-Blitz ohne Nachladezeit(!) ist das NEO 2 wirklich der Hammer.Klar, die Lichtausbeute ist bei Weitem nicht mit der eines Blitzgeräts zu vergleichen. Aber wenn man mit Offenblende arbeiten will, ist das Blitzlicht meist viel zu stark und das NEO 2 ist genau ideal um noch eine tolle Balance zwischen Umgebungslicht und zusätzlichem Licht zu schaffen. Durch das Dauerlicht kann auch vor der Aufnahme schon beurteilt werden, wie es aussieht. Mit der HSS-Blitzfunktion hat man dann noch mal bis zu 400% mehr als das Dauerlicht bringt.Da ich immer öfter an Orten bin wo keine Steckdose in der Nähe ist oder das Verlegen von Stromkabeln nicht wirklich optimal ist (Stolpergefahr), ist die Netz-Unabhängigkeit für mich auch ein wichtiges Kriterium. Mit den 6 x AA Akkus kommt man bei 100% Leistung ca. 1 Stunde aus, für reines HSS-Blitzen (ohne Modeling Light) wahrscheinlich einen ganzen Tag oder mehr. Mit einem externen Akku (12V bis 15V, z.B. 95Wh) kann man einen ganzen Tag mit 100% Leistung problemlos durchstehen. Hier empfiehlt sich ein V-Mount Akku mit D-Tap Anschluss und dazu ein Adapter-Kabel D-Tap zu 2.1mm Rundbuchse (gibt’s hier etwa für die Hälfte des Preises wie das ‘Original’ von Rotolight).Klar, das ganze Equipment ist preislich nicht für den reinen Hobby-Fotografen positioniert, aber wer ambitioniert an die Fotografie heran geht oder Profi ist, für den ist das eine absolute Bereicherung in der Lichtsetzung.

Rotolight Neo 2 – very versitile
I now have two of these Neo 2’s and for everyday use for both still and video work, these work perfectly. Before I go any further, if you want to take snaps outside and overpower the sun, you will still need a speedlight. However, the plus points outweigh the negatives.Along with the Neo 2’s, I have the Rotolight HSS Transmitter and the Sekonic L-478dr EL Light meter. I can control the Neo 2’s together or independently in groups using the Sekonic and take light readings using the trigger function on the Sekonic and this is with the Rotolight HSS Transmitter on or off.The real winner here is the zero recycle time on the High Speed Sync up to 1/8000sec which is amazing considering that a fast speedlight is limited to a 1 second recycle time.Taking cost into account ( these aren’t cheap), if you can stretch to it, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Great super portable video and photography light
Great to get nice skin tones when on the go, surprisingly effective within 6 feet, useful up to about 10 feet.I recommend to also get a D-Tap battery and you won’t need to worry about the battery running out, and to be able to use the maximum possible power in flash mode.If you use rechargeable AA batteries instead, you are probably going to need at least 2 sets of 6, if not 3.You can use it to shoot when it’s too dark, but it shines when used to get a better exposure on your subject when the natural/ambient light is not flattering.

Sehr gutes Dauerlicht, guter Blitz und Top Support von Rotolight
Der Blitz überzeugt insoweit, das er ein Objekt gut freistellt und die Farbtemperatur läßt sich am NEO II sehr schnell verändern. Überzeugend sind auch das Standard-Filterpaket. Die “SFX” Kino-Spezialeffekte für Video-Aufnahmen sind einfach nur “cool”. Ob Gewitter, Feuer oder Polizei, die jeweiligen Lichteffekte sind sehr gut. Der CRI-Test, mit einem Wert von 96 bedeutet, dass das Licht fast zu 100 % in seinem Spektrum von NEO II erzeugt wird. Der NEO II will nicht mit einem Blitz konkurieren, sondern wartet mit spziellen Features für die Profi-Fotografen und ambitionierte Fotografen auf. Zudem ist der Support von der Firma exzellent. Ich wollte den NEO II mit einem Godox X1 T an Sony A7III betreiben und fand nicht bei Sony oder bei Godox die richtigen Einstellungen für den Godox. Ich schrieb Rotolight an und nach 2 Tagen bekam ich die Einstellungen und konnte den Blitz aktivieren. Intuitiv sind die Einstellungen nicht zu finden. Alles in Allem: ein sehr schönes Tool um spezielle Fotos und Videos zu erstellen. Wer mehr dazu wissen will, hinterläßt hier seine Email-Adresse, ich schreibe ihn an. Zu mir: ich fotografiere seit 1980 mit Spiegelreflex und nun mit spiegelloser Sony-Kamera. Ich stehe mit Rotolight nicht in geschäftlicher Verbindung. Schreibe Euch aus Begeisterung für dieses Tool.

Kaufempfehlung?
Das Neo2 bringt diverse Funktionen mit sich, allerdings bedeutet dies nicht das es auch alles kann. Auch die HSS Funktion ist ein „Witz“, denn das gute Stück hat nicht im Ansatz genug power, um über den SynchSpeed deiner Kamera hinauszugehen.Eine klare kaufempfehlung würde ICH persönlich für Filmemacher aussprechen, welche Licht erzeugen wollen, aber für Fotografen ist es wirklich NICHTS! Da würde ich lieber zum Godox AD-200 greifen.Fotografen MÜSSEN beachten, dass ihr mit demISO Wert relativ hochgehen müsst… was wiederum ein starkes Rauschen verursacht. Wenn ihr über 1.4er Objektive verfügt und zwischen 1/40 und 1/100 fotografiert, dann KÖNNTET ihr damit auskommen aber auch nur wenn ihr in geschlossenen Räumen fotografiert.Alles andere ist Schwachsinn und das Geld nicht wert, denn ihr werdet Qualität einbüßen. Und wenn ihr ehrlich zu euch selbst seid und euch nicht von uTube influencer beeinflussen lasst, dann werdet ihr schnell merken, dass das gute Stück overhyped ist.Beste Grüße
