Good build quality and easy to setup
Good quality and easy to setup, but delayed video was not acceptable by my client.

Good but with issues
The video quality coming through the Magewell is solid for NDI. Unfortunately, the latency is at least half a second, which is noticeable in a live setting. I’ve also had the audio produce a crackling sound at times and have yet to figure out what’s causing it. For the price, I expected lower latency and definitely no audio issues.

The best NDI decoders (better than birddog)
I was with birddog from day one and have 12 mini’s and studios to prove it. I always eagerly waited for the next firmware update to fix their never ending amount of issues. It was fun going with a company that was first in taking on the NDI protocol and making cool stuff with it. But after a while and still hadn’t used them in any real production you need to put cool aside and get something that just works. Thats magewell. Their gear just works. It’s no different with the decoder. Rock solid never an issue. i never need to cringe hoping a Magewell works. because it just does. Sure the birdogf has all the features in a single box. But that’s the problem. on paper it would be better, but when you can’t use them or trust the birddog then what good are paper specs. Just trust me and go with magewell. their encoders and decoders like this one run circles around birddog. Oh and remember this does everything the h264 version one does PLUS SRT. yea SRT!

Inconsistent when using with a HDMI DA
We have had an unresolved problem show up with these devices. We use them in our portable production system and have found that around half of them (4 out of 9) will not work when connected to a HDMI DA. We have to add a device like the Decimater to get it to work. We have tried to get support from Magewell but they are non responsive. We have confirmed also another brand of the same device will work every time. We have been big supporters of the Magewell line since they appeared on the market but this unresolved issue and lack of support has made us look for alternatives now.

Does what it says on the tin.
It does exactly what it says it does. It receives an NDI signal on the network and converts that signal to the HDMI output. I love that it has the menu and select buttons on the side of it so I can have it display the IP address it is given by the DHCP server and pull up the web page for monitoring and control. Also, it is handy that the built in menu allows you to just select an NDI stream on the network and have it work.It is fast and easy to deploy.

Works perfectly
Performed with perfect quality and speed exactly as expected. Easy to setup with the web interface. Used this for managing a camera connected to our Blackmagic ATEM Extreme via HDMI during a livestream of our marketing conference. Would like to have a few more, but they are just a bit too expensive.

Excellent product, poor customer service
This is top notch quality but the support is awful. I have 2 threads going with them. 1 has been over 45 days since a response and the other is at 10 days. For this amount of money it would be great o get better support.

USB power port burned
The USB power port got burned after about a month of operation, without a knowing reason. Still don’t know why. So the device doesn’t work anymore
