Regardless of whether you purchase or rent devices, we covered the primary requirements you set for the self-service check-in procedure and your hardware budget in our earlier blog post about selecting the best hardware for self-service check-in kiosks.
What kind of setup you use for self-service registration and what you need to buy or rent will largely depend on how you answer those questions together. Your badges will be printed in the attendee type’s design if you utilize run.events in conjunction with color printers like the Epson CW C-3500, Swiftcolor SCC-4000D, or Canon CX-G6400. In this manner, the colors and patterns of the badges for your sponsors, speakers, and VIP attendees can differ from those of your general attendees. Conversely, thermal printers, like those made by Brother, Zebra, or Dymo, can only print in black, and you are unable to quickly switch out the paper cassettes containing different pre-printed badge designs between prints. This effectively means that every badge that comes out of a single device will always have the same design. The badge design will essentially stay the same regardless if you print “ATTENDEE,” “EXHIBITOR,” or “VIP” in a large, easily readable font. Of course, run.events allows you to incorporate the attendee type in the data that you are printing on your badges.
