The American online social media site giant has taken big steps to diversify their services and enter the field of cutting-edge technology aimed to revolutionize events globally. Although new to the events technology market, Facebook has a proven track record and is led by a team who knows how to revolutionize the norms, just as their social media site did about a decade ago. Despite facing legal issues regarding their data protection policies, Facebook still holds a strong position in the events technology market. Facebook has been aggressively trying to integrate AR, VR and news feed with 3D technology to further enhance user experience.
Facebook’s acquisition of Oculus Rift in March 2014 portrayed a keen desire to expand their research technology into the virtual reality world. Oculus Rift was one of the leaders in the virtual reality market, creating a virtual reality gaming headset in 2012 that raised a total of 2.4 million. Further development of the Oculus VR DK1 (Development Kit 1) and Oculus VR DK2 (Development Kit 2) were planned, before being snatched up by Facebook. Oculus Rift is now the virtual reality department of Facebook. Through Facebook’s intensive funding, they have grown in stride and managed even greater technological breakthroughs.

Introduction & History
Founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Google was a privately held company on September 4, 1998. An initial public offering (IPO) took place on August 19, 2004, and Google moved to its new headquarters in Mountain View, California. The company leads the development of the Android mobile operating system, which is a core in many event technology today.
