Facebook finally makes a virtual reality world

Mark Zuckerberg kicked off Facebook’s annual F8 developer conference on Tuesday. The two-day event, now in its tenth year, drew roughly 4,000 attendees to the San Jose Convention Center in California.

 This year, the company announced new augmented reality features for your smartphone camera, a cute VR version of the social network for Oculus and even more ways to talk to companies on Messenger.

Travel Brands and Meeting Planners Are Using Virtual Reality to Drive Conversion

Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America, announced at the CES 2017 technology show in Las Vegas last month that the company topped five million sales of its $100 Samsung Gear virtual reality (VR) headsets since launching them 13 months ago.

Also at CES, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich held his company’s press conference in virtual reality with 260 media wearing Oculus Rift headsets.

New App Creates Snapchat-Like Photo Filters for Events

Planners looking to offer a photo-sharing experience at their events have a new option from EventsTag. Snap Mask is a facial-recognition masking app that the company created to enable brands to offer a Snapchat-like experience at events.

“Events are desperately searching for the next best thing in photo sharing,” says Dan Strang, C.E.O. of EventsTag. “Obviously there’s a load of popularity in Snapchat, but it’s a very closed-off platform.
